Sway Bars, Tie Bars, Tower Bars????????
Ok guys, I searched the forum last night and read about 80 posta about this suspension stuff and couldnt find anything. I am really confused about sway bars. I have a 99 civic si, and I know my car comes with stock front and rear sway bars. Dont know what sizes they are though. From what I have read usualy people leave the front one stock and change out the rear one. Right now my car just seem loose, it understeers. I have been looking at the skunk 2 sway bar is this a good choise? Should I replace my front one also? what sizes should they be? Its not an auto-xer, I just want it to handle better than stock.also what is the deal with these beaks kits, I think they are called that? Has something to do with control arms I think. WHat does it do and why do I need it? Answers to these questions would clear alot up for me, so all the help I can get would be great, Thanks

Hey juggles thanks alot, but I still need to know should i leave my front sway bar stock or should i get an aftermarket on of those also? And what sizes should i be looking at getting? Thanks again

if you're getting a rear sway bar that's exactly the same size or larger than your front sway bar then you need to upgrade it, else you should be safe without upgrading the front as well
I think the front sway bar is 22mm but don't quote me on that

anyhow, you could upgrade to a ITR one which is 22mm in the rear, I think I'm right on that one right?
Anyways, if you use the ITR rear sway bar setup you should buy yourself the Beaks kit, which will save you the headache of possibly ripping the lower subframe that attaches to the lca
In anycase whatever you choose to upgrade with, make sure it's bigger than 13mm hahha

Thanks alot guys for all the help you made me udestand now. So is the skunk2 one a good sway bar though...... everything eles I have on my car is skunk2, and I am trying to get a sponsirship through them. So i would like to stick with them. The only reason I am going with comptech strut tower bars is because they are one piece with no pivot points, which I have been told that is what I should look for in strut tower bars.

Is it me, or did EVERYONE forget to ask what suspension/ride height he has right now?
If he's still at the stock height with the stock rims, it would be OBVIOUS why his car "floats" the way it does.
What do you have right now?
ie....rim/tire size.......have you lowered the car yet.....how low did you go.......ect?

well regardless of if he's lowered or not, he will still feel the difference if he installs the rear sway bar
not only that he never said he felt a floaty feeling He felt understeer, which is a very common problem for Honda's, so installing the RSB will help him but of course it won't allow him to throw his car into turns at 80km/h

Of course, but if he has a lowered car with a set of performance tires, I would take a guess that his problems would probably be alot less than what he's complaining/asking about.
It sounds to me (asumption) that he's still at the factory ride height, with stock rims. That's why I posted what I did.
As for the "floaty" thing........many people put understeer and oversteer as the same thing......they just call it "floating".
I'm not going to assume the guy knows everything about suspension set ups..........why else would he be asking?
Thanks ryuujin for helping clear it up abit, but untill we find out more info, it might be wasted money for him.

Hey guys thanks for all the posts. I have on my car a set of 17's with 205/40r17 tires, it is lowered on skunk 2 coils and tokico shocks, it is probably lowered about 1.5 to 2 inches i would say. what did ruyjjin mean by a one piece bad, form the looks of it the skunk2 bar is one piece?
