Angry Terrible gas mileage

last summer i've only been getting 400-430 ish kilometers per tank, which isn't too great, then winter came and it went down as i expected it to.. no big deal right... but as of the last couple fill ups i've only gotten to 330-350 until its on the empty.... im honestly really disscouraged about this, even my dads ****ty 94 corsica 3.1 litre is getting better mileage.... what the **** could be goin on?
tomorow im gonna goto speedy n get a maintenance package done cuz i gotta coupon
ill try changing my plugs n wires and gas filter just for the hel of it
no lights have appeared on the dash
only thing i want to change right now is my air filter cuz its a steel mesh filter of some sort, and i doubt that its all that good... im pretty stumped... and frustrated

any advice of what else to check/change??

do a complete tuneup...
plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel filter, air filter, oil change, maybe your o2 sensor's are on their way out as well.

Do all of those with exception of the o2's and i guarentee you'll get an increase of mileage.

thx,
question tho... the air filter i got on my short ram (it came with the car when i bought it) is made out of wire mesh stuff, so its cleanable.. is that filter any good, or is it garbage.. could it do serious damage?

i bet if you change your air filter and pluggs, you will regain most of your milage.. clogged airfilters are the devil!

stainless filters are cleanable and they are usually for off-road/track use, they do flow more air than a K&N and it worth holding onto.

tire pressure also plays a huge role in fuel consumption, check your tire pressure for proper levels and a tune up is always good along with an oil change

I used to get 650-700 km/tank when the car was stock and new.

Now I'm happy to get 400 km/tank... 550 on the highway I think.

I used to have a 4 banger that got 160 km/tank, and it was a 40 liter tank just like the Civic.... and no it wasn't fast

do you have an auto or manual transmission?

If manual, how old is your clutch?
If auto, do a transmission oil change as well.

Guys, how much milage do you lose in the winter compared to summer? For me, I lose 100km to 150km/tank, which is a bit excessive I think. My girlfriend's Civic (2000 Si; mine is 98 Si) doesn't lose much at all, but mine does. I think there must be something wrong with my car. One day when it's cold it'd be sipping gas like crazy... then another day when it gets warmer I get much better milage. Anybody could help me here??

I gain mileage in the cold. I've never heard of anyone losing mileage because the weather is colder.

j9chan might be somethinf wrong with your air intake sensor... the car runs richer when its at a cold temperature, like at startup... but as the engine bay heats up it leans out abit reducing fuel consumption...

just a thought anyway... check to see if its unplugged or something...
