Turbo a D16y7 ? Anyone offer advice here?
I'm looking to piece together a homemade kit etc on a d16y7 when it blows ill put a vtec D in. Anyone done this? how much boost you running? stock internals? which turbo? manifold? Dsm injectors or aftermarket? etc.... any information you could offer would be much appriciated.

ive read all that stuff already... what i want to know is how many people are running set-ups with their d's... what turbo are they using, dsm turbo ok .. or too small for your likings ?... and more importantly, where have you sourced everything. Im not looking for this to take a million years to piece together and im not spending 3 g's on a kit. Ive done the gsr's b16's etc before and i just wanna add a little pep to a daily driver. thats all... i have an hf manifold already, and a fmic with piping etc. I have a t3 turbo from a merkur which is in need of rebuild.
i guess my question is to stick with this t3 ? or similar t3 or go ahead and do a dsm for quicker spooling ? based on your experiances with a similar set up of course

what trim t3 is it?
are you looking for a quick spooling turbo? or one that spool later?
I have a garret t25 .48/.49 and for me it's fine.. spools quick and is torquey so it'll be fun on my daily driver.. but unforuntately it fails aruond 6000-6200rpm so thats the downside
but a t3 .42/.48 will hit full boost around 3000rpm(depending on setup) and pull untill redline. I'd just rebuild it.. Contact Cherry Turbos in St.Thomas near London.. they do excellent work. Or just buy another t3.. that would be the cheaper route.

how much boost ?7=12lbs (very safe despite rumors)
stock internals?yes (stock d's good til around 230 whp)
which turbo? People have had success with dsm's, pro's- quick spool, cons- runs out of steam before redline. T3 42/.48 would be more efficient.
manifold?HF mani's have also been used with some success but porting/polishing is reccomended to increase flow, you will also need an adapter plate to mate the turbo to the mani.
Dsm injectors or aftermarket? DSM work just fine
If your going to piece togeather a kit out of used parts from other manufactureres check out http://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_projects/
THere are many examples of HF mani dsm turbo set ups.
