What a Day I had removing a transmission
Well it's simple if you have a book telling you how to do it ... it's even easier if you can remove the pin fromt he shift linkage I recommend hitting it from the top and driving it down.
anyways my clutch is slowly going and so is the transmission... (when I removed it today I coukld swear I was looking at stress marks on the case)
so I decided to remove them...
who needs a transmission anyways??
(installation of new stuff is happening in a few days)
ok first step was I disconnected the sensors on the tranny
then I took off the hyro clutch stuff... no need to disconnect the lines or refill the clutch... or anything like that
then I removed the starter
next was the exhuast downpipe and the shift linkage
(4 hours later)
I remove the drive axles yes no need for a 32 mm socket here they are still atached to the hubs..
next was various plates and odd and end stuff
then cracked and removed the top tranny bolts
next was jack under the tranny and lifting it to take wieght off the mounts and adding blocks under the engine to keep it that way....
the transmission mounts and the rear mount were removed from the transmissiona nd presto it was free
8 hours of work... half of which was spent with that pin grrr alll in all I had a productive Canada day....
ok question... do new OEM clutches from Honda have an alignment tool

Sounds like you had a fun day. When I did my clutch I forgot to disengage the starter or remove it so once that was out of the way everything fell into place. Good Luck reinstalling it. I didn't use tool to realign just the old eyeball but it came out ok.

AS a recommendation for anyone removing a tranny - Buy a pin driver - i spent hours working on that same pin you were having trouble with - I finally went to a store*name withheld becauce they are VERY overpriced - but within walking distance of me* I bought a 'pin driver' - took about 20 seconds to bang out the shift link pin.
Now whenever I do a job - I check for speciality tools in the service manual - If I don't have it I buy it - some things just can't be done without certain tools.
Good to see all went OK

why get a honda clutch?
they are too expensive
get an exedy clutch either OEM (apperently better grip though) or a racing clutch (what i got ) the exedy OEM is by far cheaper than what acua wanted.. the racing clutch i think was close to the same price
good luck reinstalling it

ummm I'm sure they wont' be pulling your tranny to inspect it it's not like you run at a oval track and they pull your heads and disassemble your block and say here you go put it back together..
I'd just get a exedy organic race for more holding power...will help with launching and response...they let you run non stock brake pads so I'm sure you coudl run a non stock clutch

I pop trannys off with my thumb, I adapted the technique from a trick a guy showed me opening beer bottles. 2 seconds flat
now can I have your trophy?

well what do you think racing is all about...pushing the grey area's and cheating tryin to get an edge....so yoru tellign me they will pull yoru tranny for you at a low level stock civic class..... then inspect your clutch and disc...lol
I think not...so cheat away with your clutch...
in racing like motocross if you pull the top ends off any privateer adn you will see 134-140 cc cylinders in the 125cc class in order to keep up with the big budget factory teams....they cheat cause they know they won't get there motor's pulled and they work with a more realistic budget..

j for the pin in the shift linkage you need a punch they make one exactlly the same size as the pin. its easier to tap it out from the bottom and put it in from the bottom aswell, you will notice a tappered end on the pin put that side in first and knock it in with a hammer.
if you need any advice pm me

actually it's easier to do from the top....(yes I know there's a bunch of stuff in the way but you get a way better swing at it)
anyways dingus I hear your points and you make valid ones... but at the nationals last year I saw around 20 protests being entered on most of the front runners. while yes they won't pull the transmission there they will impound the car and have it at a mechanic shop to do it... last year I wasn't a front running (placed 4th of 8 in my class) however this year I will be a front runner so I have to be careful...
with solo2 it's all privateers there is no big money involved so privateers don't need to cheat to get to the front...make sense?
