amp was buring?

today i was driving my car with the Subwoofer on as usual
then the sub suddenly went out
so i was wondering is it just the wire losen or something
so...i got back home and check
I felt the Amp was hella hot
it was like buring
but no smoke, no smell
so...i let it cool down a bit and then turn on the amp again
and it worked normally fine

I'm wondering is it my sub are too strong for my amp?

I'm using 2 JLs 10w0 Sub with a Sony Xplod 760 Walts Amp and a Alpine cda-9813 deck

is it safe to keep using it?
or its danger
btw it never happened b4

no your subs can't be too strong for the amp
the subs dont pull power from the amp, nor do they inhibit the life of the amp

what you need to check for, is how they were wired to the amp? i dont know what configuration you had them wired to the amp, but im guessing it may have been wired with too low an resistance on the amp

...but you say this is the first time it happened

maybe one of the subs wires crossed and shorted something out on the amp and it went into protect

..where is the amp mounted? does it get adequate cooling

...is the power wire suffecient for the amp

...same with ground, and is the amp grounded to a secure spot with low reistance?

you post is lacking crucial information`

sounds like the amp overheated and went into protection.

When your wiring your amp ground, It's best to mount it as close the amp body as possible. Don't run your ground back to the battery.

actually it depends, if you have a high power system and your running 1/0 gauge power wire you SHOULD run your ground back to the battery with 1/0. If you are using 4 gauge power wire then ground to the chassis.

if you actually have a system that requires 1/0 gauge wire then i hope you have more than 1 battery. under the hood and in the car somewhere and if so then you wouldn't have to the wire that far

..where is the amp mounted? does it get adequate cooling

-the amp is mounted right behind the rear seat

...is the power wire suffecient for the amp

-i think so

...same with ground, and is the amp grounded to a secure spot with low reistance?

-the amp grounded to the chassis under the rear seats

bascially, i'm not sure it was in protect mode or anything
since the amp were off with a really high temperture,
if it was in protection mode
the protect LED should be on right?
no LEDs were on, after i cooled it down, then the amp runs back to normal
i'm afraid to turn on my Sub now

sounds like there might be something wrong with your amp. take to a electronics shop to get it looked at. i had amp that would do that and it took forever to find out but there was a bad ground inside the amp.

found out the problem
the sub was wired into 1Ohm
the Amp couldn't handle it as well
now corrected back to 4 Ohms
should be fine!
thank you for your help
