Brake handle switch

How do you take off the brake handle for a 5th gen civic? Thinking about changing it but sure doesn't look as easy as switching the shifter ****.

If you want to keep it to put it back on later, wrap it in a cloth, clamp vice-grips on it and start twisting. If you don't want to keep it forget the cloth or cut it off with a hack-saw.

i used the hack saw approach

it's a great way to work out frustrations.

Isn't the new handle supposed to screw on? How do you attach the new handle if you saw the old one off?

Just get vice-grips and twist the old one off, then slide the new one into place... you don't need to saw anything.

Thanks, I'll give that a try tonight. Just to make sure....the original handle isn't threaded on the inside, right? I'm just twisting it off to wiggle it loose?

Man I must be really strong because I just ripped it off with my hands after I had a few too many beers! Wow did that feel good when I got my **** off!
