Car Audio Stolen Need Help!

I was at my gym Premier on The Queensway 9PM Last wed, and some bastards decided to help themselves to my deck, amp and sub! Plus they fuked up my trunk liner and rear seat liners. This SUKS huge... I had an alarm but that did no good as they just took my battery lead off. The question is what can I do to make this harder to do? Also is there any window mods to do so its harder to get in? They just pulled it back by the rubber and hit the power door lock switch.

98 civic SI

THx

how did they get to the battery?? from underneath??
or do you mean the lead at the alarm itself??
sounds like it was too accessible to the intruder..

might wanna invest in an auxilliary battery (just for the alarm..)
or (if lead taken off at battery) install some kind of a shield under the battery plate to restrict access..(weld on razor blades to it maybe..just don't YOU forget that they're there..)

back up batery/siren.....that way when they diconnected the battery, the back-up one would have gone off.....that would of fuqked them up.

Even if the went and put the cable to the battery back on, it would still set off the original one.

Either way, the siren would go off and keep sounding.

More than one back-up battery/siren is a good idea too.

My 2C's.

Si Veloz - the just opened the hood once they got in to the car and poped the terminal itself off! I like the razor blade idea!

PULOVR - I am trying to get a new alarm out of insurance now... is there any you can suggest that have the battery backup option?

thx guys!

heh heh...thought you might like that..(tho not recommended..it can backfire on you..)

but if you can create some kind of cover for the battery that'll slow them up as well it'd be a good idea..
the alarm is powered inside the car right?
it's pretty hard to cut thru 0/1 power wire w/o big *** cutters..
hood locks maybe??
chain the biatch down so you have to remove a padlock to open the hood...

tons of ideas..the whole idea is to slow them down..
every second counts when you're trying to NOT be seen..

I'd suggest hooking another battery up in parrallel with the first hiding somewhere (small after market battery hidden under a seat maybe?? and when the first is disconnected the second will keep the alarm powered on. as well as all of Si veloz's suggestions and yes 0 gauge wire and a security box around the battery might drive them nuts as well.

This is not the first time this has happened in that lot I have found out... yet the management turns a blind eye!!! Crazy how fast this **** can happen and I do agree adding time to the crooks schedule is a good idea. I once saw a security system in South Africa which used a flaw thrower to ward off people equiped on BMW's hheheheh that should get rid of em!

PULOVR will definately recommend you COMPUSTAR alarm. Backup sirens can be hooked up to ANY alarm system, maybe you should check out Lockdown Security for more info. I know what will my technique be when I own a car, definately have more than 1 siren with backup power.

Just reading through the thread and thought I'd point out one thing. I would advise against putting a lead acid car battery inside your car as gatherer suggested.. if you are going to do that make sure its a type of battery that can't leak poisonous fumes.

The dude(s) that broke into my car and took my system had to go to a lot of effort. The windows have clear tint so when the passenger window was smashed, it folded over the door lock/handle. The lock on the driver side is disconnected (need key to open/lock driver door) so thief had to climb into the car through the window. Also, the trunk latch was disconnected and the pins were unscrewed so the subs were not taken. But the idiot stole my 1-day old skunk2 shift ****, eclipse cd player, mtx amp, and all my cd's, broke my dash apart, and left a mess.

Now I have a paging alarm and a baseball bat by my door.

When I find that kid....

If you want a battery for inside the car get an optima yellow top or red top, or any sealed gel cell.

I have a 12V that came out of a UPS for a computer sealed gel should do a fine job if I decide to put subs back in... this thing is so strong I think it could start the car!

And if you get a 12v back-up battery(auxillery battery), you will still get the page from the Compustar alarm, even if they disconnect the main battery.

They will think they disabled the ararm............they'll be in for a big surprise whan they figure out that they didn't.
