tryin to research some double-din HU's that play dvd and has navigation.
i've heard that some older pionneer models didn't allow navigation and audio cd's to be played at the same time since there was only 1 optical drive... but some new units have HDD navigation so that fixes that problem...

some units i've narrowed down:
1.PIONEER AVIC-Z2 - 2V pre-outs

2.KENWOOD DDX-8019 DDX8019 - 5V pre-outs, but i'd have to buy the navigation add-on module.

Plus i hear that these units don't allow dvd usage while driving and so i'd have to get someone to by-pass it...

anyone have suggestions on these or other HU's wit dvd + gps

BTW: Driving around with dvd playing is asking for serious ticket. (careless I think?)

 

I believe that there are programmed not to do that, my friends pioneer only plays dvd's when the car is in neutral

The Kenwood dnx-7100 has navi. and dvd all in one and is very easy to bypass if you want to.

wow perfect timing...how do u get a dvd unit installed indash on a 97 civic?? i have teh same car and was wondering wat it looks like...

 

a single din flip-out dvd hu would do the job....

personally, i'm looking for a double-din setup, like the models above.

 

i have a clarion in my ek hatch, bypassed (a simple toggle switch)

and the top end kenwood exelon in my del sol (ebrake cable grounded)

i dont watch movies at all - i use it for mp3s. modded xbox+500gb hard drive LOADED with mp3s....so much better than a disc changer.

as for install of one in a EK, it's easy ...same as a cd deck pretty much

i really dont think that it is possible to fit double din navi unit into a 96-98 ek

motorized flipout, OR dash mounted either moulded in (or cut in), or on a swivel arm if you want GPS...

haha its like im turning this into my own thread...sorry!! what is the range im looking at for a motorized gps unit for my car??? as long as it has navi, map, cd, am/fm tuner etc.???? and wat brand do u recommend??
