good audio places?

i called up EHR today and they wanted $360 for Alpine Type R 6.5 components

and Audio Video 2001 wants $270 for 5. 1/4 Type R components, but I have a friend who works here, so I can get them without paying commission rate.

anyone know any where cheaper to get Type R components?
ebay isnt really an option cause i have yet to find someone who will ship these to Canada.

thx

picked up my alpine type r comps for $250 w/ tax from friend

i think that was a good deal

also, to whomever said look elsewhere for components... i think these are fine, i listened to them when powered by a seperate sub @ 130 watts each, and they sounded awesome

plus, im riding in a 92 civic, not a bmw.. so forget all that hq crap.. theres more noise on the outside of my car than the inside...

btw, ikesound aint a option.. brining it in from the usa is ****. my friend had to pay $93 duty on his deck he got today.. that it was a way better deal than it was.

plus, ike sound only ships UPS, too expensive.

from them:

"Hi, we only ship on UPS, which makes the price of the item much higher. In addition, there will be duties on your side as we do not make the shipment a gift. If you want us to quote on UPS, we can once you give us a postal code. Payment must be in the form of a money order. thanks Laura "

just to clarify, not all purchases from the us are "****"

I ordered a jbl 1200.1 last spring from etronics, and when everythign was said and done, my amp costed me around $550cdn, while the cheapest price i could get here in canada was $900 from a direct jbl dealer.

I saved alot of money.

sorry

they arent ****
but unless you know shipping stuff well, its not a good choice for a first timer thinking he's getting an awesome deal, cause you always seem to get hit with hidden fees.

but yea, canada doesnt always import the best stuff, so its good if you are looking for something we dont or hardly carry in canada.

but the hassle for a deck... i dunno if its worth it. he came out saving around $75, when he though he was going to save more. not to mention the box is slightly damaged, so now we gotta check if it works (has a warranty, but just another inconvienece thing..)

Yeh. Some sites I wont order from, but places like Etronics, have a wicked checkout system.

When you buy it totals up everythign and displays ina chart exactly what your are going to be paying when it arrives at your door. It factors in GST and PST for canada, and customs and everything.

So the total I saw on my credit card was exactly what etronics had in the checkout screen.
