GPS Tracking for your car (ie. Onstar)

I was looking into GPS tracking on your vehicle if it is stolen or moves without you knowing etc,. OnStar only offers there service to vehicles already equipped with OnStar (only GM). I found this link
http://www.drdetailshop.com/v200.htm

It is a Viper GPS Tracking system and you pay $99 a year for full GPS tracking services. Anyone know any other companys that offer services liek this?

Actually the new viper system is different than before it has changed a lot and is a lot better. The other companies that make these systems are boomerang, Mobile IQ, and The witness.

I heard that if you park in an underground garage with them they are useless anyways. Only one brand worked underground...i cant remeber i read it in the toronto star like a year back.

It was some comparison between a bunch of tracking systems.

From what i've read its GPS, so any concrete interfearance like underground parking would screw with it. I'm thinking about this as well, but its not cheap.

Boomerang has a key fob and if the car is mobile without the presence of the keyfob....they start tracking it, so if its jacked before you know...they are on it. not sure if others have that as well

its defeintly the future for automobile protection and with small hidden batteries and antennas more and more theifs/car chopping operations will be shut down.
