Hmmmm...how does a head unit fit in Honda?

Hey...just wondering...how does a Head Unit fit in a Honda Civic? the HU is rectangle and the Stock civic HU is a weird shape...im guessing some kind of adapter or snapin plate is needed...where do you get that?

nope its actually rectangular underneath the stock one too...i jsut finished installing a panasonic deck in my buds 2000 civic....the stock deck and the cd holder thing below it pop out...but you have to remove the whole console..its pretty easy...just takes a lil manouvering..if you want to keep the cd holder thingy then u might have a lil 2 mm gap between ur aftermarket deck and the holder but u cant really see it..if u need more help or got any questions just ask

yup dont worry..any single din deck will fit...what u might have an issue with is the mounting cage that comes with the deck...(some decks come with a cage so u can pull the deck out later without undoing ur whole console again...u might have to forget the cage and just screw in the deck to the console like the stock deck...u'll see what i mean if u try this and pulll out the stock one)...by the way the sticky above has some good pics to help u with the install

For a 98 you need an adapter ro fit around the face of the HU. It is not for function but for a clean look. YOu can get them at most any stereo shop, I got mine at Future Shop.

well yes.... but then u're left with a hole up top....

plus it's hard to reach when driving.... coz I have an indash changer there now and everytime I want to change disk it's kind of far to reach while driving......

what about installing a deck in the lower position (where the cd holder is supposed to go)? is that a difficult thing to do?
