how can i play dvds with this?

Sony MEX-5DI

http://www.mmxpress.com/sony/mex5di.htm

my guess was if i get a DVD changer or hook up a PS2 .. but what should i look out for in the Deck to make sure i can do that .. rather than buy a deck with built in dvd function ..

Find a deck from a company that carries a DVD changer. I know clarion has a DVD changer but they are quite pricey. In terms of a PS2 you would just need an aux audio and video input i think along with a power inverter.

Yeah it would probably be cheaper. You would need to run a power inverter in the car to power up the PS2. Would you be using an in-dash screen or a seperate screen from the deck? If seperate you would be best to look into something that could split up the video input from the ps2 into more than one video output and then just run the rcas for audio from the PS2 to the aux-in Rca's on the deck.

don't have the screen setup going yet .. but your idea of the separate screen sounds really good.

might not need a power inverter, check the back of the PS2 and see what voltage it requires, if its 12v you can just run it off your car power, or if it requires a bit more just get a step up transformer and go from there, eliminating the use of the inverter then the ac adaptor.
