Does anyone know how to tell whether a 2000 Civic Si has the appropriate keyless entry hardware installed? I purchased the car a few weeks ago but it didn't come with keyless fobs, and I'm wondering whether all I need to do is purchase a fob and program it in order to have keyless entry. Thanks in advance!

 

if it has the stock deck then it should... esp the Si models should

the keyless is controlled through the OEM radio

 

take off the driver side KICK PANEL
if you see a white box.
that means you have keyless entry system.

 

Took mine to a dealership, they told me that it was ready since it had power locks but they couldn't get me a fob.

 

If that's true then my keyless entry has some serious range to communicate with my stock stereo that's in my parents basement. Maybe you're thinking of an earlier model Civic.

 

96-98 have a seperate box attached to the OEM radio for the keyless. 99-00 have a seperate unit
