mono or Multi-Channel Amplifiers?

Question mono or Multi-Channel Amplifiers?

i'm installing a infiniti 1020W "http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='1020W'&Ser=REF&Cat=SUB"
I just wannted to know what is the diffrence between Mono, and multi chanall amps, in what cases you use a mono and which cases Multi-Channel. please help!!!!

and what watt amp sould i get for a 250W rms sub (1020W Peak).

for subs, mono.

you want a mono signal going to the amp anyways, you dont want stereo.

for anything else get multi like 2 ch, 4ch, 5ch etc.

For your sub get a amp that will do between 250-300 wrms x 1 that can be wired down to whatever load your sub can be wired to.

You can still use a stereo amp to run a single or dual subs. Cheater way....use 2 'Y' spliters......2 into one....then 1 into 2. the singal will get mixed toghter, and then be split......so technically it will be a stero signal with mono outputs. (not a good way to do it, but it does work)

Understand?

Depending on how many voicecoils the sub has, will determine the way you can set it up.

class d is more effecient since his subs wont be playing above 250 hz or so. less strain on the alt the better in our tiny civics.
