Need Some Help Pls

Hey guyz, well i'm thinking of doing onna those crazy looking custom jobs in my trunk, for probably two subs and an amp, the setup i want is to have my two subs on the floor of my trunk and have the amp right in the middle of both, but i don't have the slightest clue how to even strat this project. How would i put these subs on the floor and have a thik perimeter around them so they would still pound??? just wondering if neone has doen this before or if neone has a ne pictures of them done??? This is for two 10" subs and a regular amp in the back of a 2002 civic coupe.......your inputs are appreciated...

pls and thank you

Talk to HappyB16.. He has two 10's I think in his floor but the amp is over to the right of them a tad.. he might be able to give you some schematics..

Either that or Cantonagod.. He dreams of stereo schematics while he sleeps.

Regards,
OK

Fiberglass is your friend )

Just make a mold of the spare tire well, then on the baffle have the cutouts for the 2 subs and amp in the middle.

I have never worked with glass so I opted for a basic box. Took some crued measurements of my wheel well and the volume of my 'trunk' What was useable anyway. Askeda local stereo guy what the optimal volume required was for subs and went from there. Did some math, bought some MDF (I think) and some screws and some glue and went to town.

The really tough part that took many hours was shaving the top of the box to fit all of the contours of the hatch... the thing dips and curves all over the place.

You know Dan, one thing I am surprised about your system is that you don't have it ported.. I bet you would increase your air push at least 15% by cutting in two ports and then adding the plastic moulding for it.

Yash,

That setup shouldn't be too hard. There is a lot of info out there. One of the best places I've found is here
http://clubknowledge.com/cgi-local/a...tion.cgi?forum

What car will you be putting this in? Are you doing it yourself? If so I can give you a hand I've installed a couple of systems myself. One word of advice, plan everything out and take your time (don't rush). Remember that good things come to those who wait.

...but the point of this system was to make the subs less boom and more tight. I pulled these subs out of a JL plexi box that had a big port...that thing pounded but the problem with ported boxes is they have a small useable frequency range. sure it pounded but only certain songs that happened to be in the range that really made the port 'work'

I removed the port to get tight bass reponse and to make the subs more music oriented as opossed to simply pounding and spl.

Question for HappyB16,

I looked at all these webpages that everyones been posting up. they're pretty helpful but aren't you supposed to separate the box into two air chambres so that the two subs don't affect each other?

would you mind if i came down to one of the meets to listen to how this thing sounds?

Yash,

I've got a buddy of mine that has done this type of custom setup a couple of times. I think you should PM him cuz he's into doing odd jobs here and there. His user name is fine2ne. He'll do a good job and give you a good price. Tell him that I referred you.

Doesn't matter if you run common chamber box or 2 seperate chambers for the subs.

Downfall to common chamber is:
-If one sub fails, the box ghets twice as big for the other sub and will affect performance
-If you run the subs in stereo (which you shoulnd't anyways) you will get cancellation
