Oil burning smell inside the car

Hey guys,

theres this annoying oil burning smell inside my cars interior when it comes to a stop after driving it for a while, and it only comes if the climate control is set to fresh air. I popped the hood too see if there was any smell but it wasnt there, so i am not sure whats going on here. BTW the car is a 95 eg coupe.

thanks for the help

Sure, your not following Blair? (inside joke).

I would check the Oil Pan, see if there is any leaking there. Oil Filter housing as well.

well first check if you are actually burning oil.

Check if the oil level is low or not. You sure you aren't missing the obvious, maybe somebody spilled something in your car?

well if your swapping your motor it will eliminate the problem assuming its the motor thats smelling and that it is an oil problem.

there are tons of reasons why it can smell inside.
my first guess would be one or more of your gromets on the firewall are missing and therefore causing engine bay smell thru seem thru.

the other could be that your heater unit is clogged with leaves etcc therefore not being able to get proper vented circulation of air therefore causing the smell to come into the compartment etc....

oil smell

Hi. I just fixed mine. my problem was a bad main crank oil seal. The oil would leak down the oil pan and drip on to the exhaust pipe and stink me out every time i stoped. the seal cost 35 bones, got to remove the trany clutch and fly wheel(auto will be conveter). now its all good again

good to know, but instead of spending 200 - 300 on this i'd rather put that towards my swap.
