picking your subwoofer/amp combos

okay.. ill admit it .. i need help and advice on picking the correct combos to meet practicallity, realistic measures, quality, and budget always helps..

is the important thing to just get a amplifier that can power your subwoofer at max vs. a high end sub/amp...will i get the same quality out of the weaker subwoofer that is powered by the correct amp?

well i am looking at a kicker L5 12" solobaric ported or the alpine type R(single)

but i was wondering if i could get good enough quality from lower end subs with the correct combo.

I am looking more into 60/40 bass treble - both are important aspects

and price wise... i was looking at amps that would be able to power the kicker at max and there all 400$ +

well subs dont play treble so your in trouble if thats what your lookin for :P personally id steer clear of both those subs, the l5 isnt going to give you very good sound quality. Id look at something like Atomic, DD, TFOne, RE Audio.

max numbers are meaningless, concentrate on rms numbers and ignore max or "musical" or peak numbers
