Post Plastic Trunk Tray / Liner Guard - Gen3 EL

Hi,

I would like to read from anyone who might offer ideas for an alternative to the Acura stealership's far-more-functional-than-attractive black resin trunk trays ($150+).

I'd need something that would protect the existing liner of my 1.7EL perfectly, while offering a raised edge to prevent spilled liquids from soiling the matting beneath.

Would a (presumably less expensive) Civic trunk tray fit quite well?

Don't ask what I'm transporting.

Thanks.

To be honest with you OEM > all

the civic one would probably fit, i donno if they offer one though...

you could just Saran Wrap the whole inside of your trunk and that would prevent spills....

I say cough up the 150 and get something that fits properly...

make yer own. get a cardboard box from nofrills then line it with garbage bag or somethin and cover it in spray-on truck bed liner. if you only need it to protect your trunk from something then go as ghetto as you can. when i brought my engine home i just duct taped garbage bags in a recycling bin lol

There really is no cheap alternative.

I use a Rubbermaid plastic box velcroed to the carpet to keep stuff safe and secure.

Thanks Screwface, but that's a little too ghetto for me; I need something that will last & look at least slightly decent & in place.

Thanks DumbasSi, I wish that excellent site was Canadian (absence of EL & I still haven't heard for certain if the '05 Civic & '05 EL trunk dimensions are identical.)
By the time all is paid for ($110USD + tx) & imported ($?), I may just as well purchase OEM directly from my local Acura stealership.

At http://www.handa-accessories.com/ the OEM Civic trunk tray is $77USD; I just need to know 100% that it will fit the EL perfectly.

Any other ideas / hookups on OEM Acura parts? Thanks again...

take out everything in your trunk and spray it with a rubber liner

Hi,

At this point, I'm not looking for an industrial-grade solution. I'm really just trying to keep my felt trunk mat clean.
I guess I just need a large durable rubber mat for my trunk, just the way most of us would have rubber winter mats for the 4 quarters.

Thanks.

just buy the one from the dealer...or go to partsource and see if they can get you one from the keystone catalogue...but it may be around the same price

Hi,

Neither partsource, weatherguard nor Keystone have anything similar on their websites.
Ultimately, I may just *choke* buy one from an OEM Honda distributor in the US (for the '05 Civic) & pray for perfect fitment.

Thx.

I dont see why it wouldnt fit. They are the same car really.

Dumb question, but what do you put in your truck on a regular basis that will damage the felt mat? A new felt mat if it does get damaged is probably really cheap from Honda. Try my idea with the Rubbermaid box.

01-05 Civic Sedan and Acura EL have the same trunk space/dimensions.

That's great, thanks JDM ES1. It's been very difficult to get a straight answer & I haven't had a chance to measure it myself. I believe I'll put the inquiry to rest & just go ahead with my order. Cheers.

Any forums users selling 1 of these oh-so-coveted trunk trays?
Or have any good leads on getting 1 (in person) for below retail cost?
Not thrilled at the prospect of ever paying $150 for a moulded plastic tray...

Why Acura of Hamilton in particular? I've got 2 Acura Stealerships within 10 minutes (West GTA), and both would be delighted to gouge me for $150 + tx.

Well when I was in there buying side skirts I asked the parts guy what else he had and he said the trunk tray. I'm sure it wasent $150 that he quoted me, I think I was well under $100, but I may be wrong.

Call up and ask for Andy, he can quote you over the phone if he can still get one. 905 528 7335
