Problem with my volt gauge.

I've just installed my Temp gauge and my volt gauge. My volt gauge is reading like 15V or just a little above 15V. I use my multimeter and it is reading like 14.85-14.50 somewhere around there. My volt gauge always fluctuates going up and down like 15V moving constantly. The needle is never steady. I also have a system in my car and when i put my a/c on and pound my subs it does go to 13V so i know that gauge does work properly since i brought it brand new. I want to know why is it reading a little high and is that normal? Also i want to know why is my volt gauge fluctuacting all the time. If someone could help me out that would be great.

I don't know how acurate it is, or how well they are designed. Is it a fairly decent brand or some no name unit?

is it a digita unit or analog?

don't be worried that its slightly off. You have a pretty healthy voltage in your car because most run around 13.8-14.4.

Well i got a new alternator installed like a month ago and a stock alternator is supposed to be 70amps, but i told them to bump it to 85 amps. Would that be the problem? The brand of the volt gauge is called A.D.I. Has anyone heard of them? The other 1 i have is Ractive and i had no problems with that 1. I know that i got a good ground so i shouldn't worry about that rite? It is a analog gauge. I heard digital gauges are more accurate is that correct?

I don't mind if it reads a little high, but why does it fluctuates though? Is that normal or is it the gauge itself or is it my installation?

well when you pound your subs, your amplifier is drawing alot of current from the alternator, allowing less to go to any other accessories in the car, in the process the voltage will dip down a little bit on real high demands, its normal. Its the same reason your lights dim a bit when you turn the vacuum on in the house.
