problem w/ oem security sys. '01 Si

After visiting the dealer four times, they haven't been able to figure this out... so, I'm hoping that maybe by chance someone here has had experience with these oem security systems.

The car is a 2001 Civic Si coupe. Prior to delivery when the car was brand new, the system was installed by the dealer (or perhaps an affiliate).

The problem: If the 'lock' button on the remote is pressed twice, the horn does not honk once to inform that the system is armed (like it's supposed to). Also, after the 'unlock' button has been pressed, if the fuel door or trunk is open, the horn starts honking. The system seems to go into valet mode on its own. An example scenario... after driving to a gas station and getting out of the car, while putting gas in, the horn starts going off.

We've already tried replacing the battery in the remote.

thanks Marty, the shop manual would be perfect... if I could perhaps borrow that from you. The way I see it, if you want something done right... do it yourself.

I'll be in touch with you about when/where we can possibly meet.

we have this issue in our VW... the factory alarm is fuct cuz there are two areas that fail on it... one, a microswitch in the door latch that lets the alarm know when the dr side door is closed. two, same thing in the rear hatch, except here the washer nozzle/tank leaks on it and shorts it out. the alarm goes crazy by itself.
