Removing air bag equiped steering wheel
Can removing a steering wheel with an air bag be done by myself? Is it the same as removing a steering wheel without an air bag? I'm asking cuz I'm probably gonna be picking up a Momo wheel and hub pretty soon, and I don't wanna spend the money to get it installed if it's not necessary. This is for a 93 Civic. Thanks.

I want my old wheel that I had in my old car, in my Civic now.:working:
But someone told me that the steering wheel adaptor for the airbag equiped cars, mines a 93 HB, was different than the non-airbag ones. And that it is much more work to put in an aftermarket wheel in these cars.

The chances of you getting fined by the cops are very slim, what I would be more concerned about is insurance. I assume you pay hefty premiums each year? Well should naything happen to your car they could deny your claim, are you willing to risk that?

State Farm even asked me last year what engine I had.....I said I didn't Know (my first Honda).....he came out to see the car and to take pictures......when I opened the hood, he said "oh you have a ---" and pointed to the stamped # on the block.
I said uh? All he said is that they had problems with people trying to get a claim done on a car(s) that had an engine swap done to them. He then said somthing about j?m (later found out it was JDM that he was talking about). They are not stupid.....and it's only a mater of time before they all start to check for this. That's why I tried to stay as close to the original engine as I could after the fist one went boom. I also took it back to him to show him the swap. He said "from a --- to a ---, is not a big deal, it's when these people try to tell me that the GSR engine that they have in their 92 Civic HB CX, came that way from factory, I'm not stupid" he said.
ie..... car is insured as a cx, but has a DOHC 1.8 in it. "They should come in and have us take a look...if they don't, we can deny there claim even on a key job, becuse they lied to us in the fist place when they first got insurance with us." (A direct quote from my agent)
If you want something done to your car, check to see if it will give you a problem later when it comes to insurance, or take your chances and hope that your claim will not be denied. :working:
(There is wording in all Insurnce papers that state that if a customer lies about any part of there vehicles, insurnce can refuse a cliam OR REVOKE the insurnce of the driver.)

There is fine print in your insurance policy that says, if any of the information you give them is not true, a claim can be denied and/or you can be denied insurance. (not exactly in those words, but close enough).
When you got your insurance, the agent asked you what car you had, the year/make/model. Now, if you told them that you had... say a CX, and you really had a b16, you are lying to the agent....this is fraud.....a BIG NO NO when it comes to Insurance companies. Do want you want......I'm happy that I told my agent.
In my case, I just went to another engine that was simular to my old one. The outside of the engine looks the same, even though the inside's are a little bit different.
Now to answer the above question.....If the body shop happens to put on the paper work that the car had a b16, and the car is a CX, and the insurance clues into this, the rules in your policy could be put into effect. Remember, they are always looking for ways to avoid paying out to a claim.
Just hope that the body shop that you deal with doesn't have a big mouth, and make sure you are on good terms. Most shops couldn't care less what you have under the hood, (as long as they have work to do, they are happy), but if an outside adjuster from your insurance company comes into the shop, (not the shops own), to do the apprasial......you might get .
