Sound of Subs?

Alright i have a few questions for yea.. i bought theses 2 10" JBL subs and a 500 watt amp, and one of the subs wiring was disconnected so i was running with one of them for a couple of days, when this was happening my subs sounded amazing then i got the other one hooked up and i have no idea why i figured it would pound way harder but yet it has made the bass level go down

Any thoughts of why this migbht happen??

PM me or write it here plz

Thx

Tyler

what is the model of the amp?

im guessing your meant to hook the subs up in parrallel so you would connect the + connections from both subs together and then to the amps + connection and then do the same for the - terminals on the subs and run it to the - terminal on the amp. That should fix your problem if there not wired like that already. Make sure to reset your gains on the amp and turn off any bass enhancement features on your deck etc when setting the gains on the amp.

im guessing one of the woofers is wired out of phase, 9times out of 10 this is the cause.

Try reversing the polarity (+/-) on the sub you just hooked up, should make a world of difference.

Thats the same problem I'm having right now, I only have one hooked up. If I connect the other one, the bass level/power is a whole lot weaker.

did you try the above mentioned?

if the subs are in the same common chamber box running the sub like that is not a good idea, as the box was not designed for a passive radiator setup

i'm guessing you're using one set of connections at the box and yer set up series creating an 8 ohm load, NOT the 2 ohm load you want (i think that's what Chris said too)

let's say you have the 301.1 right
300@2x1
at an 8 ohm load (2 subs in series) yer getting like (realistically) less than 50w per sub

if you were a little more specific about model #'s it'd be so much easier to help you rather than have us GUESS at what product you have..
telling us you have "a 500w amp" is like saying you have brown hair, it means nothing without specs

I just did it, and it pounds a lot louder, harder and lower. Let's just say, I can feel my head shake.
