call a couple of the shops out in sauga and find out if they have a meter. Other than that, check www.canadiancaraudio.com out and maybe post up on there and im sure u will find someone with a meter.

Sometimes it cheaper to wait until there's an SLP compitition in your area.......enter it, and then get it tested. A friend once paid $50 to get his tested (what a idiot).
The SAME shop had an SPL compition 2 weeks later.......it was only $10 to enter.

those only go up to about 127 or so dB
almost any system can hit that.
Theres one from audio toolbox or a company like that its a mini SPL mic and handheld device, good for 160db i think.
$1000 though lol

he said so, there were different weight i remember that.... donno had A thru D i think... handheld with a LCD display and a mic at one end... i'm sure it's not near as good as what they use in real competitions, but it seems to do the deed alright. i'll ask him next time i see him..

The one I have is this one......(can't seem to find the fuqken thing though)
I used to use it when I set up home theaters (one of my old jobs), and also when I DJ'ed.
It only goes upto around 126dB......but I have yet to set a home sytem up that high (usually around 110 for a home system).
I once measured my next door neighbours wife yelling at him.......she was hitting 105dB at around 20 feet away.

Just find a shop that has a meter and ask I guess. Perfect tones in milton has both the new pressure sensor, and the old mic.
Burlington Radioactive also lets you test out your system, although I don't know how much they charge, 20hx also has mics setup, but again not sure if they charge or not. Those are all shops in the west end, here are the urls, try emailing them and find out.

There are lots others, those are just ones I know and have been to.

isn't there a difference between spl and decibal readings??
decibals can be achieved thu any sound, spl needs sound that moves the air, ie subs, mid-bass??
tweets and mids won't move a lot of air...ergo, decibal readings are wanted..
(referring to the wife screaming bit....unless she had some big *** lungs on her..)

SPL (sound pressure level) is measured in dB's (decibal).
Everything gives off spl/dB's, whether it is audible or not.
Ie.....(use only as a guide line)
http://www.coolmath.com/decibels1.htm
So if I said a car has a db of 150, and another car has an SPL of 150, it would be the same thing.
The only reason people measure the bass, is becuase it's the thing that most people want to hear in a car.
ie.......a stock system might have an SPL of 125dB. Then you put in a 10" sub with a 100w amp.....all of a sudden, the SPL is now 132db. The sub help bump up the dB's in the car.
Tweeters and mids contribute to the equation to a certain degree, but no where near as much as a sub can.
Does that help?
