what kind of amp would i need to power...

a 10" sub... just one, rated at 400W peak, 4 ohm impedance

I just want a bit of clean bass in my car, nothin crazy.

What would be relatively affordable, and do u guys have anything specific in mind?

With those numbers and a 100 W RMS amp you are looking at 112dB of bass if you go with a sealed box, which is not that loud. You might want to consider going to a ported box since I assume the sub will be in your trunk with the seats up. This will mask any port noise and give you at least an extra 3dB of bass. Your sub only plays down to 38 Hz so you aren't losing much low base with a port.
