XM or SIRIUS Satellite Radio?

Is anyone here running either a SIRUIS or XM Radio satellite radio system in the Toronto area? Just wondering what the reception is like because they don't guarantee service here (US only for now)...or any other information/experiences you have.

I was thinking of going to the states and getting a system and setting up an account using a friend's US address.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Reception's fine, it's a sattelite it works anywhere, we just don't get it because of the CRTC (no canadian content) I know a few guys who have it up here in Barrie, sounds great, lotsa cool channels (XM anyway) I'm hoping to put it in this winter...

You can buy the equipment here, my alpine dealer's getting it for me, they can sell the box and antenna, just not the service...

From what I have heard, you need a U.S. mailing address to sign up for the service though.

xm is the frequency, like AM or FM.... the service providers vary across the continent.... AM and FM are regulated by the fed gov't and the gov't auctions off licenses for frequency bands... like Rogers Telecom owns a buttload of the airwaves... but there is a clause in our legislature that has something to do with not one sole company can own all the media, cuz then they can carry out a political agenda. XM is kinda the same way... think of it like Satellite TV -- it's not Cable TV like we are used to, but there are Dish TV, BellExpressVu, DTV and all those lesser ones. Sirus is like ExpressVu - just a provider.

Nevermind, I did the leg work for you.

BTW, XM has only about 1/3 of their stations as comercial free.......all the rest of them are basically the same type of stuff you get up here.....with comecials.
