its just electromagnets that are being turned on and off between the cubes to stick or to not stick to the other cube

I guess in a sense, if one moving joint is damaged from one long piece, it will use the other end to reconnect itself onto another piece, or its old broken piece (using the opposite end) and restructure itself back into its original length.

yeah I saw this on Daily Planet on Discovery a month or more ago. not too bad.... I much prefer their insect robots.... buggers climbing walls and stuff, very cool
