my camera I can actually dial in the kelvin rating for the white balance and I know those stupid orange parking/street lights are around 2350k so I use a white balance around there. I try to get it as close as possible so its less work in photoshop in the end.
when you know u have bad or difficult lighting shooting in raw is your best bet since post processing is gonna be needed and with raw files you can tweak them without bastaradizing the actual picture

I find all professionals resort to photoshop in the end, and you see it all the time...with white balance, and special photograph effects like HDR. Good job on the PS correction, looks great.

thanks...post processing is like always needed whether you like it or not...even the most simple picture will benefit from some correction...that correction I did was fast and sloppy and literally took 20seconds to do...I hate post processing with a passion though hahaha

Yeah, they're like 6 inches tall.
We got them as souvenirs from Vancouver. They're actually Terracotta Souldiers from China during one of their many dynasties lol.
I see ads all over the GTA and wanted to go so bad.

hey guys...i am very green to the photography field. i bought a nikon d40 without really researching...its cool but man the stuff you guys are posting is totally amazing. i am having issues with the flash but if i turn it off the shutter speed is long and we know how steady my hands are especially when using my cane with one hand to stand and the other to shoot. also you guys are talking about white balance and i have no clue where to find or adjust that....any help or input would be great. oh yeah, i use osx and i am looking for editing programs and i am sure you guys dont pay for what you have so where did you get it? torrents? (whatever they are)

^I'm relatively new as well. It's a lot of learn as you go and read up on that manual, it helps alot.
As for the shutter speed and flash. You need to have the setting on A-Dep, M, AV, TV, or P for the flash not to fire. The other settings are auto. For the speed, set it on a higher shutter speed like 1/125 sec. I find there's a lot of pics ruined for me when it's set lower than that. The white balance thing I'm not there yet.
So, from a newbie to a newbie, hope this helps.
