ground controls and ???????? or F2s or pic apex
right now i have the choice of 3 suspension setups for my ek..
either ground control coilovers + ?(i dont know what shocks)
or
function and form type 1s
or
PIC apex full coilovers
i have $1000 for my suspension and those were the best options i could think of..
any ideas? comments? which should i go with?

Well the one piece coilovers have the ability to offer you higher spring rates then you could use on an off the shelf shock. For example, you can get 12K front PIC springs, but you wouldn't want to use that spring rate on a basic Koni yellow. So if you need those higher spring rates, you'll want to opt for the one piece coilovers to stay within your budget.
That being said, the one piece coilovers at that price range aren't all that they could be. It's my opinion that a good shock and sleeve can outperform the lower end coilovers.
So if you have no need to go above 500-550lb springs, I would opt for an off the shelf shock with custom rate Ground Controls.
Which shock? Most folks use Koni, and its a proven setup, with a great warranty, and the shock are really well built. However, my preferance is Bilstein. Bilstein's are monotube, just like most one piece coilovers. They are used extensivly in racing, and are one of the leading shock manufacturers. Bilstein's are not adjustable though, so if thats important to you, the Koni's would be for you.
Bilstein/Koni with custom ground controls will probably run you over $1000 though.
