True coilovers on a DD??
Trying to decide on whether or not coil overs are gonna b a good option for my EK DD. Anyone here who has had TRUE coilovers (tein basics/super street, skunk 2, PIC, etc) for more than one season? Where do you usually drive everyday and how has the suspension held up??
All feedback appreciated, thanks guys!!

lol it depends how old are you and what kind of person you are. i know people who are DD'ing slammed cars on shitty coils and are bouncing around everywhere..yet they cant be any happier. i would say dont do it, you will regret it, but ive told this to some people i know, and they did not listen yet they are happy. depends on a person. if you think you can get used to bouncing around...then go for it

I loved the EK SI OEM feel, it was a little sloppy though it was smooth.
As Martin stated, it's all about the person driving the car. There are times when it sucks to have a lowered car or stiffer springs. Then there are times when it's great to have it.
You might want to look at where you drive the most, and the conditions of the roads.

Hahah oh god, I just got Tein SS and I'm kind of kicking myself heh. Stiff as **** even on the softest setting.
I have like a 2 inch drop from stock, if I just got some lowering springs and like tokico blues or something would the ride be softer than my coilovers?
I kind of figured with fully adjustable coilovers you can make them soft enough, like a lowering spring / aftermarket shock set up.

Thanks for the feedback. I've heard about Coilovers being stiff for the street but I also heard some springs are soft as ****. What I'm looking for is a ride that hold itself in the corners and on the track, but won't kick my a** all over the street, especially when I drive downtown.

I've been told that Skunk2 springs are a bit stiffer than s-techs but no where near coilover stiffness. I've had the s-techs on a DA, never tried skunksanyone here ever run skunk springs?? Or any other spring they find stiff??

honestly, with something as common as an EK, your options are truly endless.

to me, the perfect, no-nonsense suspension for any EG/EK/DC chassis is the JDM ITR suspension. great shock valving, awesome spring rate (and they are linear). pair it up with the JDM ITR 23MM rear swaybar and you have an OEM-quality suspension with OEM fitment, that can handle daily driving duties and any amount of corning madness.... just make sure you can handle the 23MM rear bar if you opt for it (i love it and i'm also running the OEM 19MM front bar... it is a fun combo!).
and... run good tires, check your pressures often.

FYI I`ve never even considered that ebay junk they call coilovers. They are way to short for any oem style strut, the spring rate changes with the adjustment of ride height and the sleeves are highly prone to cracking. In short, not a good look. Anyone using them do some research, and beware.

lol you can go soooo wrong... what if you put the car on the ground and it's like it wasn't even lowered. we put eibach pros on my buddy's mazda and he was like... WTF? or you get springs, only to find out you can no longer get over the speed bump at work, or into your driveway or something... that sucks!

Ground Control Sleeves have very good sporty street rates IMO. Not too stiff, but not as soft as most springs. Balance it out with a rear ITR swaybar to reduce roll, and its a very solid setup.
As for shocks, I happen to find the Bilstein HD to be pretty well valved for the GC Sleeves.

lol true...well i figured the op would know what hes doing :S
like 1.75"-2" without body kits etc is ok for dd. am i wrong?
and yeah those 0.5" drops or 0.7" are uselss. well it does give a better look but very hard to tell. again it all depends on a car i guess. but as i said if you get some 1.75"-2" drop on an ek as long as you dont have body kits you'll be good.
