How low is legally too low?

My dad read this article: http://www.torontostar.com/NASApp/cs...l=969048871196

and Is now saying that lowered cars are uncertifiable and illegal. I would like to prove him wrong so I can drop my car. I read the Highway Safety Act and found nothing about the restriction of a car being too low.

I read on here that the tires should not rub when the wheels are straight. Is that the only restriction?

My angel eyes are illegal though (there blue)

I think pictures speak louder than words at times......

Yes, those are coilovers.

This is the car that PACER is using to educate the sport compact ethusist.

The HTA is not your enemy, but your friend......read it.

Need I say any more?

It states that the wheels can not touch any part of the car when the wheels are straight, but I would also make sure they don't touch when you turn the wheel all the way to the left or right as well. The last time I drove, I was pretty sure that I had to turn the wheel when driving. The only time I know that you don't have to turn the wheel too much, is when your at the drag strip.

I guess as long as your tires aren't rubbing with your wheel wells, you should be fine. Last time I got pulled over the cop made me turn my wheels to see if I was rubbing or not.

God I hope not. I tuck in the back and couldn't get a pencil in the front. I know in some states the rule was a specific height from the ground to the center of the headlight (saw this in SCC awhile back) I think it was 24 inches or something, if so there must be quite a few illegal cars in this club, mine was definetely less!

the 2 finger rule is just a rumour and some cops do give tickets based on this but for HTA standards... with wheels pointed straight no part of the wheel can touch the car body or frame

i suggest u either get coilovers(raise it when driving/slam it for show)or if u want springs get the eibach prokit, only lower your car about 1.5 inches
